Frequently asked questions

I received an email about funds. What next?

We put significant effort into identifying those who are entitled to the unclaimed property or inheritance. If you've been contacted by our team or an affiliate, it benefits you to speak with one of our agents right away to get the process started in reclaiming your money. You can reach us at (310) 776-5871‬ or by email at info@assetreunite.com.

Why should I talk to you?

We investigate cases involving cash assets valued at over $5,000. With that said, if you received a notice about your unclaimed funds, it is likely worth the couple of minutes to get in touch with our team and discuss options for retrieving. From there the process is fairly hands off, as the whole point of our service is to make the process as effortless as possible for you.

How much does it cost?

You pay nothing upfront. We take a small fee only when you receive your reclaimed assets. Fee will depend on the asset class, state, and overall level of involvement. Get with our team for more details.

What if don't want to provide a copy of my identification? Can you still recover my unclaimed property?

Potentially. It depends on the state, the claim amount, the type of claim (heir vs personal), and other factors.

If your claim does not make identification sharing mandatory, you'll instead print out our Notarized Sworn Statement of the Claimant form and then take it to a notary along with a valid ID to have it notarized. Should you need assistance with locating or covering the cost of a notary, our team is available to help.

Frequently asked questions

How can I find out if my business has unclaimed assets?

Asset Reunite Partners offers a complimentary review that estimates the potential assets owed to your company, including any subsidiaries or affiliates. Contact us to request an initial report, and once our analysis is complete, we will share the results with you and outline the next steps for recovering those assets.

Why was my company selected for an audit?

There are several reasons your company may have been targeted for an audit. Some states regularly cross-check their business registration databases with unclaimed property filings. If your company is registered in a state but hasn't reported unclaimed property, it could be flagged for review. Additionally, third-party audit firms, which are often contracted by states, have a financial incentive to initiate audits and will typically focus on companies that seem likely to generate substantial audit findings. While the exact reason for your selection may vary, the most important thing is to focus on how to respond effectively once you’ve been notified of an audit.

Why and how can we pursue a voluntary disclosure agreement (VDA) with a state?

A VDA is an official process for voluntarily disclosing unclaimed property in a state where no prior reporting has occurred. The decision to pursue a Voluntary Disclosure Agreement (VDA) will depend on the age of the property being reported, the amount being reported, and the state in which your company seeks to file, among other things. States that offer VDA programs typically require that your company is not currently undergoing an audit with that state. Not every state has a VDA program; those that do provide benefits such as waivers or reductions in penalties and interest, as well as agreements to refrain from auditing during the reporting period. It is advisable to consult a service professional before making a decision regarding this process.
